Subarmalis

Pictures Coming Soon!

The subarmalis is not a mandatory peice of equipment to dress out at events nor is it neccessary to complete your kit.  It is however a very nice peice of equipment to have!  The subarmalis is there to help you take some of the pressure off your shoulders and upper back.  Not to mention help keep your tunic from being soiled form the rubbing of the armor on your tunic.

The form of your subarmalis is really up to you, sense little to no evidence has been found.  It can be made of linen, goatskin with a linen liner, or linen with leather padding.  You can have it open in the front so that you have easy access to get in and out.  You can have it open on the sides so that you can adjust it as you grow but still have a clean front.  You may also choose to have it as a pull over like a tshirt.  In any case it should fit close to your body.

A subarmalis for a lorica segmentata, it is good to put the padding in the shoulders and upper back area.  The segmentata is a bulky peice of equipment that is not to flexible so it tends to just sit there on your shoulders

A subarmalis for a lorica hamata, it maybe affective to put padding allover.  The hamata is much more flexible than the segmentata and tends to "stick" to you.  Padding on the shoulders is still a good idea but not as much as for the segmentata.

La Wren's Nest is a good place to get linen Subarmalis as well as a leather one with Pteruges for the officers.
