Cohors I Damascenarum is the Auxilia Cohort (sagittaria) Legoi VI Ferata and Cohors II Italica CR.
All three units were stationed in the region of Syria and Palestine during the 1st Century AD (Spaul 26, 29, 432, 2000
and Campbell, 8-27, 2006).
While there is no concrete proof that all three of these units ever operated together, the fact they they were in the
same region for over a century would seem to make it possible that such interaction could have occurred, especially on larger
military operations.
In addition, one member of Cohors II Italica,Proculus, an Optio, is known to have been a member from a vexillation of
sagittari (Spaul, 29, 2000).
Five military diplomas. two dedicatory stones, one papyrus declaration, and five additional members are record as existing.
The unit looks to have been raised at some point in the Claudian and more than likely would have participated in the campaigns
of Corbulo into Armenia as well as participating in the suppression of the Jewish Revolt of 66-70 AD during the First Century.
