Equipment Standards

On this page is some basic information that we ask all of our members to follow when making there kit.

Attitude:  To the Chief this is most important!  When on campagin especially a public event you are an actor, play the part.  Do not talk about how you lost fifty bucks on last nights basketball game, or how you think the nine mm pistol is weak compared to the fourty five pistol.  Keep the conversations period!!  Also, please do not swear infront of the crowd, it looks unprofessional and takes away from the impression.

Fabric: When picking out fabric for your kit please keep the following in mind.  The only fabric known at this time was wool and linen.  The fabric should be plain and basic, NO flower patterns or any fancy designs embossed intot the fabric!  Use only the basic eight colors, no sky blue or nuclear green.
We do ask that you refrain from using blue or purple.  These colors were hard to create so inturn they were very expensive to buy, so only warlords and chiefs would have the money to buy them.

Buttons:  Something as simple as a button did not exist at this time or as we know the button today.  The buttons as this time were wooden toggles.  This same concept as a button but a wooden toggle.  You can have a small pendant on the flap of sack and use a leather or cloth strip to pull it shut, but the pendant can not be the button.

Weapons:  In our time period the spear was still the most common weapon but the sword was becoming more and more common too.  Not to forget the axe was starting to make more and more appearances on the battlefield as well.
The axes can be one or two handed, but no battle axes with the double blades.  Swords should only be one handed.  Any Roman or Celtic sword from this time period will do, but a Germanic saex would be best.

Jewerly:  Metallic jewerly was expensive just as it was today.  So common people or basic warriors could not afford jewerly.  Modern wedding rings are the exception.  Watches, definitely no!
Glasses, if you are able to get contacts we would prefer you to wear those while on campagin but if you are unable to we will not turn you away.

Hair:  Generally the Germanic would grow their hair out long, including there facial hair.  Only the slaves would have short hair.  If you want to grow a beard out for our campagins then we would make a more acturate appearance, but if you can not grow one out because of your job, we completely understand.
