BOATING

  • Boating and Boat Access: Access on the Edisto River is available at a drop off area. A boat ramp is located three miles from the park. Canoe trail between Colleton and Givhans Ferry is 23 miles by river and 15 miles by highway. Seven to nine hours depending on current.

FISHING

  • Fishing: Enjoy fishing in the Edisto River for flathead, catfish, red breast, channel catfish, largemouth bass, striped bass, shellcrackers, blue catfish and eels. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

TRAILS

  • Trails: The River Bluff Nature Trail is a moderate 1½ miles. The Canoe Trail between Colleton and Givhans Ferry state parks, is 23 miles by river (15 by highway) and, depending on current, will take seven to nine hours to paddle.

- Re-enactor Roman Tent Deal:  Reenactors attending Castra Romana can elect to purchase a Roman Papilio Tent from Panther Primitives through SOTW by ordering at least one month before the event.  Tents are $225 plus shipping (to be determined based on the number actually ordered and split evenly).  SOTW will not make any money from these tents, they are offerred at our dealer cost to help us all improve our impression!!  Tent Info:   Panther Primitives Papilio Tent 9' W * 9' L, Peak height 6'4", Wal Height 24", 10.38oz Sunforger Canvas.  This does NOT include set up poles or stakes, the Panther Set up kit is $120, but we can send you the pole dimensions we use on ours that we make, and you can bring them to the event with tent pegs and rope for MUCH less.  Check or money order or Paypal is fine, contact the Centurio for additional details.  These are the same soldier Papilios you all saw at last year's event!
