These brutally Authentic pila are handcrafted by Robert Wear of Legio V. Pila are handforged steel. The total pilum heads in these pics range from 21” to 24” long. The shafts start at the bottom as 3/8 inches square and end about 1/4” round just below the head. The heads are 3/8” wide and taper to nothing. Heads are 2 inches long. Kit comes with butspike. Tangs average about 1-1/4 inch wide and 5 inches long. The steel is not quenched or hardened in anyway. This way they can handle a few more bends before they get work hardened enough to break. Truly Excellent bit of kit that stand up to repeated throwings. They have a brutally less refined look than the Deepeeka Pila. Kit for one includes iron shank, shaft, collet, nails, and buttspike.
